Course overview

Summer school: Design the Future

Do you enjoy designing things and thinking creatively? Are you keen to shape the future through design?

In the Design the Future track, students will be informed about and work with a variety of methods and topics in the broad field of design, ranging from agile design to designing with electronics for smart interactive products. At Twente, we believe in innovative methods and multidisciplinary work. Design can be a great source of innovation, frustration and everything in between. It challenges us to blend our creative insights with our science-based analytical skills. Experienced designers work swiftly towards useful results. At Twente, we focus on innovative and multidisciplinary design, design for behaviour change and co-creation methods.

We also have a Construct the Future course.

Course leader

Geke Ludden

Geke is Assistant Professor at the Department of Design. She received her PhD from Delft University of Technology for work on multisensory design and product experience. Her current interests center around the (theoretically informed) development and evaluation of products and services that support healthy behaviour or that otherwise contribute to people's wellbeing.

ResearchWithin the theme Health by Design, I study how the design of products, services and systems can contribute to supporting and empowering people to effectively and pleasantly manage their health situation or change their lifestyle in order to improve their (physical as well as mental) health. Within this theme, I use and develop theory and tools on Design for behaviour change. I was an international co-investigator within the project 'Creating Sustainable Innovation through Design for Behaviour Change' funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC) in the UK. Our group is partner in the MinD project that will be funded from the EU Horizon2020 research and innovation programme.
