Excellence in Analytical Chemistry

Funded by the European Commission, the EACH programme offers generous scholarships to the best ranked students.

Tuition fees and scholarships are based on the applicant’s country of origin:

  • Programme countries (European Union, Norway, Lichtenstein, Turkey, Iceland, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia): €4500/year
  • Partner countries (all other countries): €9000/year

The tuition fee covers tuition, essential study materials, orientation upon arrival, ongoing support by international student services, tutors/students assistant and health insurance (only for the partner or programme country students scholarship holders).

Scholarships available:

  • Partner countries students: up to 49 000 EUR for the two years of study
  • Programme country students: up to 35 000 EUR for the two years of study

A limited number of tuition-waiver scholarships, funded by the EACH consortium, are also available to applicants from all countries.

About Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, MSc(Eng) - at University of Tartu

The programme is taught by a consortium of 4 universities:

  • University of Tartu, Estonia;
  • Uppsala University, Sweden;
  • University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, France;
  • Åbo Akademi University, Finland.

The students spend their first year at the University of Tartu, while the second year is spent either at UCBL, UU or AAU. The selection of the second year study location is determined through a competitive process based on the student's preference and the first semester’s academic performance.

Evidence suggests that a growing number of employers are looking for analytical chemists qualified to work with modern instruments and to solve problems ranging from determining the composition of hi-tech materials and trace levels of toxicants to unraveling the mysteries of life and forensic analysis. Graduates are welcome to work in both private and public sector:

  • R&D departments of major companies;
  • Chemical industry labs;
  • Pharmaceutical industry labs;
  • Health and environmental protection agencies;
  • Food processing and manufacturing quality assurance labs;
  • Certification, standardization and accreditation authorities;
  • National Centres and Institutes of Metrology;
  • PhD studies and academic career.
