Course overview
This degree aims to enable students to complete a postgraduate program that will lead to an advanced level of knowledge in a specialised area of engineering. The graduate certificate of engineering technology (mechanical engineering) is ideal for engineers or scientists who have a three-year degree in science, engineering or technology and want to extend their knowledge of mechanical engineering. Through this four unit degree, students have the option to select from a range of courses (subjects) which will give them the knowledge and skills to plan, design and oversee the development of machinery. Courses include materials technology, heat transfer and energy technology. Students could take the credit from their studies and go on to complete the master of engineering technology. As a mechanical engineering graduate, students could work in manufacturing, refineries, mining, transportation, computing, energy, and education industries. Their experience could see them solving practical engineering problems and improving efficiency.
