Course overview
This program aims to enable experienced engineering technologists to demonstrate, or acquire and demonstrate, their attainment of the academic, personal, professional, and technical knowledge, skills and understanding required to commence practice as a graduate professional engineer in Australia or overseas within appropriate social, cultural, industrial and environmental contexts. Right from the beginning students will be able to use the knowledge and skills they have already gained in the workplace to complete their first year core units. Through self-assessment and workplace portfolios students will demonstrate how they may already meet engineers Australia's competencies and identify the technical courses they need to complete in order to graduate. This program enables students to travel or work while studying and allows them to adapt their study to their life. Students will build upon their prior knowledge in environmental engineering with advanced studies in areas such as water resources, public health and environmental law. Their capstone course will see them develop their practical skills in environmental sanitation in both the field and the lab. Through this degree students will gain the eligibility to apply for membership as a professional engineer with engineers Australia. Students will also have the opportunity to work overseas, with their accreditation recognized in the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, New Zealand and South Africa.
