Extend your qualifications in your chosen scientific research discipline with USQ's Doctor of Applied Science. With a focus on advanced professional development, you will gain technical and research skills to independently evaluate relevant scientific theories, implement research methods and make significant contributions to the scientific profession. Unique to Australia, this degree gives you online access to a range of research facilities including our Remote Access Labs, a High Performance Computing cluster, and Mt Kent Observatory.

Doctor of Applied Science or PhD?

The Doctor of Applied Science is for the science professional looking to further expand their skills, knowledge and qualifications. The degree also provides an equivalent and efficient alternative pathway to PhD studies to achieve a Doctoral qualification through a complementary combination of coursework and research project work.

Within this degree, your studies will include 8 units of discipline-based coursework and research methodology studies, before embarking on 16 units of independent research. It is also possible for you to undertake industry-based scientific research projects, with the support of technical supervisors.
