Course overview

Develop an advanced understanding of economics and finance through a mixture of theoretical and applied methods.

The MA Business Finance and Economics is an applied degree which is taught using theoretical and real-world examples. You will learn how businesses and consumers behave, how capital markets operate, and how financial decisions are made.

You don't need to have studied economics previously. We will introduce you to the key core concepts, such as microeconomics and macroeconomics. You will learn how to apply necessary quantitative skills in the areas of economics and business finance.

Towards the end of the degree, you will complete an extended research project. We will support you in applying your knowledge and skills to a topic of your choice, covered during the first two semesters.

By the end of the course, you'll have gained an advanced understanding of the different perspectives of economic debates. You'll understand how economic theories are applied to business, finance and various other industries. Finally, you'll gain experience in the core analytical techniques used in economics and financial data.
