About Engineering Management (Distance Learning) (Top Up) (2 Year), BEng (Hons) - at University of Portsmouth

Overview

Step up your career in Engineering Management with a course that converts your existing learning and industry experience into a full BEng degree.

You’ll develop and demonstrate your management skills across processes, people and operations. You’ll begin with modules tailored by our Industrial Advisory Board to meet the engineering industry’s management needs, then take on a personal project that can align to your company’s requirements or to your professional aspirations.

Your distance-learning study fits with your schedule, over your choice of two or three years, with access to your lecturers and fellow students in our virtual learning environment. When you graduate, you’ll be able to show the understanding and abilities to manage projects and resources across the engineering industry.

Course highlights

  • Follow a course designed for working engineering professionals
  • Develop a range of engineering management skills: from supply chain to sustainable design
  • Study with lecturers who are also experienced engineers, with a wealth of industry expertise
  • Fit your study around your existing responsibilities, over two or three years

Careers and opportunities

As an engineering manager, you’ll be bringing leadership, teamwork and time management to your roles – skills that the Institute of Mechanical Engineering has said might be even more in demand in this complex industry than technical ability. Being able to deliver both elements makes you a compelling candidate for future jobs.

Your learning includes industry-focused activities, so you can show your ability to apply your knowledge to sector problems, and you’ll have built connections with  your lecturers and fellow students that expand your professional network.

You’ll also build the knowledge that could lead you to further study.
