Course overview

The School of Mathematics offers degrees in which combine mathematics with a range of complementary subjects, as well as the popular single honours mathematics course. The school is comprised of three divisions: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics.

The school has active research groups in these areas and is also host to the Centre for Mathematical Medicine, which uses mathematics to provide insights into biomedical phenomena, and contributes to the Centre for Industrial Mathematical Modelling.

In the latest Research Assessment Exercise the three units of assessment - Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics - were each awarded grade 5 ratings.
