Political Science University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC)

The Political Science program equips students to see the implications of the changing world around us, learn about the ethos, changes and opportunities in our and in other countries, and to have a well developed understanding of our values and political system.

Beyond this, a major in Political Science is an especially useful preparation for students who wish to pursue careers in business, public service, law or communications. The program in Political Science allows for specialization in Canadian politics, comparative politics and public administration.

Political Science is the discipline devoted to the systematic investigation of citizenship and diplomacy in local, national and international communities.

A Master's degree in Political Science is designed for students who normally would have the equivalent of an undergraduate major in Political Science and want to undertake advanced training in scholarly research.

To achieve its purposes, the Department of Political Science offers the opportunity to study political philosophy, comparative politics, Canadian government, international politics and public administration. The latter field is offered in two public administration certificates. These certificates are available in municipal administration and First Nations administration.
