Course overview

With our Medical Science MSc you can design a study programme that reflects your interests. It's suitable for hospital doctors in the training grades, healthcare professionals, general practitioners and hospital consultants.

You'll study specific areas of medical science in-depth with an emphasis on improving practice through a critical understanding of research.

Students can follow various pathways. At the moment these are:-

  • Child Health Pathway
  • Mental Health Pathway
  • Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (ORL-HNS) Pathway).

Alternatively you can follow a more generic pathway, tailored to your specific interests and career goals.

We've introduced as much flexibility into the programme as we can and will help you choose modules that provide the learning you need, within a coherent intellectual framework. Some study aspects are compulsory.

You can accumulate modules and exit with a Postgraduate Certificate, or you can carry on to a Postgraduate Diploma or an MSc in Medical Science. Study can be full-time or you can take modules individually as CPD.

The programme's delivered by colleagues in each of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences' Research Institutes. The Director of Studies is based in the Medical School. For further information about the programme or specific pathway, please contact the Programme Administrator.
