About Media and Communication, PhD - at University of Leeds
Media and Communication
Year: 2018/19
Description:
The School of Media and Communication is a leading centre for media and communications research. A vibrant community of PhD students is an essential part of our research culture. Our research is multidisciplinary, theoretically innovative and socially relevant.
The results of the most recent REF review (2014) placed the School of Media and Communication in the top ten of all UK departments in our subject area, and ranked us third when taking into account the size of submissions (a measure called 'research power'). Researchers at the School are involved in extensive networks of collaboration with academic institutions, the public sector and media industries, both within the UK and across the globe.
With over 30 potential supervisors we provide supervisory support across a wide range of specialisms and cross-cutting topics clustered around the School's five major research themes:
- Cultural Production and Media Policy
- International Communication
- Journalism
- Political Communication
- Visual and Digital Cultures
The School is part of the ESRC funded White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership and offers accredited social research training.
