Course overview
Do you want to explore human behavior, or how people think, feel, and perceive? Are you curious about the fields in which psychology is applied and what you can do with it?
Psychology plays a role in virtually all forms of human behaviour. Psychologists study how people develop and behave in diverse contexts - from healthcare, parenting, and education to work, traffic, environment, and sport. They guide, improve, research, or develop. With the bachelor's in Psychology, you open doors to a career where you help people move forward and turn ideas into positive change - while also growing yourself! In this bachelor's programme, you:
- learn how biological, cognitive, social, and environmental factors can shape our behaviour
- explore the broad professional field of psychology
- train your communication and diagnostic skills
- work in small groups to develop your academic, research, professional, and communication skills
- learn to critically reflect on psychological theories
- gain command of statistics and methodology - the foundation of solid psychological research
- can specialise in the area that interests you most
- build a strong profile as a future psychologist - both in content and in practice
Do you want to know more? Check our information events or contact a study advisor. The bachelor's programme in Psychology is also available in Dutch. The programmes are identical in content; the elective options may differ slightly.
Entry requirements
We strongly advise a firm background in English, Mathematics and Biology.
Non-native English speakers must provide evidence of satisfactory results for one of the standard tests.
If you hold an EU secondary school diploma comparable to a Dutch vwo-diploma you are also admissible (i.e. Abitur, International Baccalaureate). A rule-of-thumb for students holding an EU-diploma (no rights may be derived from this): If your diploma gives admittance to academic universities in the country of origin of your diploma, then it also gives admittance to universities in the Netherlands. Students who finished their first year of an applied sciences university programme (hbo in Dutch), cannot automatically be admitted to the Bachelor of Psychology. The admissions board may ask for supplementary requirements. Please contact the academic advisor for more information.
This bachelor's programme has a selection procedure. This means that the programme selects candidates to be admitted to the programme. We choose this way of working because we would like to admit the most suitable students to our programme. Please don't be discouraged by this procedure, there are 600 places!
