About Business with Law, BA (Hons) - at University of Greenwich

This programme covers the essential elements of business management, including business organisation, management and strategy, accounting and IT management, and key aspects of corporate law, such as contract, employment and international law.

This combination of knowledge will help give you an edge in the modern international business environment and the specific analytical skills to understand complex legal issues such as intellectual property, company formation and structure, employment rights and international trade.

You will study current examples of the everyday legal issues facing organisations in order to gain an understanding of how these are shaped by the changing demands of modern businesses.

You will learn about the role of the courts, governments and international agents in the development of the law regulating the global business environment and multinational enterprises. You will have the option to undertake a work placement in your third year.

Employability

Youwill connect with employers through our dedicated Business SchoolEmployability Team who focus on developing your employmentskills. They also provide you with CV support and will inviteyou to employment fairs to network with employers and recruiters fromindustries. The team was shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

We are actively improving job prospects for graduatesthrough the support we provide. According to survey findings, 93 per centof 2014/15 Greenwich graduates looking for work were already in jobs or furtherstudy by January 2016.

Experience abroad

You can participate in the Erasmus+ internationalexchange programme. This will help improve your language skills and give youexperience of living and working in another country. The Erasmus+ Schemeprovides a grant towards the cost of studying abroad for a year.

Extracurricular activities

Our GreenwichEmployability Passport schemerecognises and rewards your participation in additional activities such aspart-time work, volunteering, student societies or industry guest lectures.

Business start-up

You will be encouraged to enter theuniversity's Enterprise Challenge which rewards student entrepreneurship andinnovation. Previous winners received aprize of £5,000 for their idea of developing an enterprise and study hub.

Outcomes

The aims of the programme are:

  • To understand firms' internal processes and governance and their place in theglobal business environment
  • To understand the essential elements of business management includingaccounting and IT management
  • To understand aspects of the law as they apply to the corporate world especiallycontract, employment and international law.
Degree re-structure

This degree is currently being restructured in collaboration with employers, professional bodies and student feedback. This ensures we develop degrees that are aligned with latest industry trends and gives you the opportunity for subject specialisms. (This is standard UK practice across institutions).
