Course overview
The course is intended for practising mathematics teachers, mathematics teacher educators and other educational professionals; students have an introduction to the study of mathematics education as an academic discipline and are introduced to methods for research in education; the opportunity to pursue individual specialist topics within mathematics education is actively encouraged and supported; the course consists of 2 taught modules and a dissertation; the 1st module introduces the study of mathematics education as an academic discipline; the 2nd module introduces methods for research in education and provides opportunities for individual work on a specialist topic within mathematics education; the dissertation is a research-based study in mathematics education to be completed by the end of the programme
Entry requirements
A good undergraduate degree with a strong mathematical component, at minimum 2.1 standard or equivalent required; applications from qualified teachers or from those with relevant experience and/or professional qualification are considered.
