About History of Art (Part time), MA - at University of East Anglia (UEA)

Study

This flexible course offers a unique opportunity to study visual arts and architecture, allowing students to choose from seminar modules on the arts of Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia and the Pacific, from antiquity to the present. You will study in the Norman Foster-designed Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, with dedicated work and communal space for postgraduates.

Structure

Taught in small groups, the course offers close individual guidance. Students select modules from a range of options, receiving guidance on the methodological and historiographic aspects of advanced study in the History of Art. Students write a dissertation on a topic of their choice and draw on the expertise of their tutors, guided by a supervisor.

Teaching

Students get more lectures, seminars, tutorials and general contact time with academic staff than students at many other leading History of Art departments in the UK. Art History and World Art Studies is based in Norman Foster's world-famous Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, an icon of modern design, which contains an astounding art collection with major internationally-renowned works by artists such as Francis Bacon, Edgar Degas, Jacob Epstein, Henry Moore and Pablo Picasso.

Employability

History of Art students are part of a department that is the highest-rated in England (joint first in the UK) for graduate prospects in the visual arts sector. Graduates have filled high profile posts in prestigious institutions such as the British Museum, V&A, Tate and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, as well as other leading History of Art departments, publishers and the commercial art world.
