Course overview

Study

Achieve a critically reflective but practical understanding of current issues and debates about pedagogy and learning developed around specific subjects, key educational trends and policies in the UK and globally, and educational research. There is also a strong international dimension to this course.

Structure

The MA Education is intended to be a capacity-building programme to develop knowledge and understanding of international literature and research for teacher development, teacher education, curriculum development, educational reform, issues of educational policy and implementation. The course structure features compulsory modules as well as a dissertation component, with the opportunity to pursue optional tailored modules. Teachers will develop analytical and critically reflective skills, use a range of research methodologies and techniques, plus explore alternative methods in aspects of teacher training and educational systems.

The programme draws on a long-standing innovative research culture in the School of Education and Lifelong Learning and on its excellence in professional education and training. The School is one of the UK's leading centres for research and teaching in education, offering a distinctive range of programmes at Postgraduate level with a diverse community of practitioners, scholars and academics who teach, research, and provide professional development.
