Course overview
If you are currently working as a teaching assistant (or in another educational setting with children) and wish to work towards a professional qualification, this course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills and expertise you need for working with pupils, other adults and teachers.
Designed specifically to suit your existing work commitments, it builds on the experience you have already gained in the classroom to combine academic theory and understanding of best practice.
It can provide a route to a teaching qualification – on completion you have the opportunity to join the BA Applied Education Studies course, after which you may choose to progress to Primary PGCE/Schools Direct/ SCITT programmes to gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
