About Computer Engineering Co-operative, BSc - at University of Alberta

Award: Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering Co-operative

Why study this program?

Computer engineers play a key role in the design, construction, and operation of the computer systems and software that change our lives on a daily basis. Computer engineers are uniquely equipped to design computer systems in which hardware and software components are closely coupled, and both are critical to the success of the design. As a result, our graduates are equipped with the skills to work in a wide-range of fields and research areas, ranging from artificial intelligence, software engineering, cybersecurity, and more.

Specialization Option

As part of this program, you can choose to take a Software Option (Co-op only) or a Nanoscale System Design Option.

Co-op Option

This degree can be taken as a Co-op (co-operative education) program. Through the Co-op program, you will have the opportunity to complete paid, supervised work terms throughout your degree. Co-op programs are a great way to challenge yourself, gain relevant work experience, and make connections to industry before you graduate!

Most co-op programs include five work terms lasting four months each, in addition to the usual eight terms (four years) of full-time study. Therefore, co-op programs require five years to complete.
