This masters degree will:
- increase your understanding of key concepts and issues related to English, globalisation and language policy around the world
- provide insight into a wide range of perspectives on these issues in social, theoretical and educational terms
- develop your capacity to analyse, evaluate and synthesise primary and secondary sources
- help you to design research on English, globalisation and language policy
- develop your aptitude for sustained and independent argument about English, globalisation and language policy.
This masters degree provides the opportunity to:
- discuss and debate issues related to English, globalisation and language policy around the world
- reflect on your own work in the light of current theory and research in English, globalisation and language policy and English language education globally
- plan new possibilities for professional activity in the future.
Individuals working in or who have a keen interest in English language education policy and practice globally, such as leaders in language provision, teachers of English as a foreign or second language (EFL, ESL, ESOL), or other professionals concerned with the use of English as a co-first, second or foreign language in diverse world contexts.
Entry requirementsA good first degree or equivalent and appropriate teaching and/or management experience in the provision of English teaching in a world context. Candidates without experience should have a good academic record and should demonstrate relevant interest in global and/or culturally diverse aspects of English and English language education.

- The multilingual classroom
- The second language learning experience.
By coursework assignments of approximately 5,000 words and a dissertation portfolio of up to 17,500 words.
AttendanceFace-to-face daytime and evening sessions.
