Course overview

The University of Ulster has a long history of providing professional programmes in the area of careers guidance. The course was first validated in April 2002 and recently underwent a successful revalidation in November 2011. In addition to conferring the University award of Postgraduate Diploma in Careers Guidance, the University continues to receive Approved Centre Status from the Career Development Institute (CDI) which enables successful students to be recommended for the award of the Qualification in Careers Guidance of the CDI, the profesional qualification for working in the guidance sector in the UK. As a postgraduate diploma the course operates at Level 7, and offers the possibility of progressing to a linked Masters (part time).

The major aim of this programme is to prepare and educate candidates to an initial level of capability and confidence in the provision of careers guidance that will enable them to start work as careers guidance practitioners in a range of settings.
