With the growth in the use of information technology in business, industry and the public service, the need for high-calibre professional personnel continues to expand.

Trinity College has played a pioneering role in initiating new programmes in the information systems area. This programme for evening students has evolved from the University's experience in presenting courses over the past thirty years in this field.

TCD is committed to achieving the highest standards of excellence in information systems education, professional development and information systems research. Today, the College has the largest computer science department in Ireland and presents a wide variety of courses in the computer and information systems domain.

The Information Systems Programme has already established a reputation as the leading programme of its kind in Ireland. It has received wide recognition and appreciation from employers within business and industry.

Besides facilitating those pursuing third level study for the first time, this programme also provides an avenue for lifelong learning by offering graduates from other disciplines an opportunity to pursue further professional development.

To educate future managers and professionals in the field of information systems and information technology.

Composition of Programme

The programme consists of two consecutive evening courses:

  • Diploma in Information Systems

  • B.Sc. Degree (Honors) in Information Systems

This programme is designed for:

  • Those currently working with computers and wishing to enhance their understanding, knowledge and skills in the areas of systems development, software engineering, programming and the management of information systems and information technology.

  • Those wishing to embark on a career in computers and information systems.
