About International Business with Chinese, MA - at The University of Edinburgh Business School
International Business encompasses the study of public, private and not-for-profit organisations, both small and large, their management practices and processes, and the changing external, and increasingly global, environment in which they operate.
You will specialise in international business in Year 2 and examine different types of foreign market entry strategy and the world trade regime and the various elements that comprise this environment e.g. EU / NAFTA. Your studies will also include the role of the multinational enterprise and the process of foreign direct investment, cultural issues, technology, intellectual property rights and finance, interaction between governments and investors.
International Business with Chinese is a specialist programme within the MA Business programme portfolio and is designed to address the growing internationalisation and globalisation of business. You will learn Mandarin in the context of Chinese history, literature and culture, and also learn to read, write and speak modern standard Chinese.
To reflect this, you are required, through the Year 3 exchange programme, to study abroad and experience at first hand different cultures and approaches and develop your understanding of the international environment. For students with good language skills, this will include foreign language study in China.
To participate in our study abroad programme, you will need to achieve an average mark of at least 55 per cent in Year 1 to be eligible to study abroad in Year 3.
