Course overview

This course is suitable for engineers or recent graduates. It deepens your knowledge and experience in design engineering and improves your technical and problem solving skills. You develop your understanding of current best practice in the theory and application of leading edge technologies, processes and systems. It is suitable for you if you want to improve your career potential as a technical specialist or manager in industrial and manufacturing companies. It can also help towards a career teaching engineering. You learn the latest techniques such as stress analysis and use the latest computer software including CADCAM especially in computer-aided design, analysis and manufacture. You study two management modules, with five core technical modules and one optional module. The optional modules include • advanced vibration and acoustics • engineering for sustainability • equipment engineering and design. The international product development module involves working in multidisciplinary teams to develop a new product within a global market. This develops much sought after advanced technical and business skills. The project provides a supported environment to develop your ability in an area of your interest.
