Course overview
This course is for people who want to study the complex and growing world of corporate communication.
You look at internal and external corporate communication, with a particular focus on issues of public relations for those wanting to improve corporate practice and understanding.
The course allows you to combine theory and practice. Your research into the complexities of communication in a corporate context develops your ability to put your learning into practice. You gain an understanding of how to represent corporations externally, and an ability to communicate in a corporate environment.
Attendance is by distance learning only, with some optional face-to-face workshops held at the university

Corporate communication is of increasing importance to managers and communication professionals aiming to communicate effectively inside and outside their organisations.
Business professionals benefit from this course, especially those with responsibility for marketing, communications strategy or communications processes and products in their business.
Assessment
All assessment is by coursework – there are no exams. There is one assignment for each module, usually equivalent to an essay of roughly 2500 words which you can negotiate with your tutors. We use different forms of assessment according to the learning outcomes of the module.
To qualify for MA, you must complete a dissertation of about 10,000 words.
The dissertation will be on a topic of the your choosing, supervised through remote learning.

Entry requirements
You must have one or more of the following
first degree
recognised professional qualifications in a communication field
at least four years’ work experience in a professional communication field, or a closely related field such as science communication or information design.
If you don’t have a recognised qualification you must show that you are capable of sustained academic study and motivated towards a course of this kind. This is done through an interview.
