Course overview

This course is for UK and international graduates with no or limited professional teaching experience who plan to follow or develop a career in English language teaching. It enables you become an informed, enquiring and confident teacher by reflecting and engaging with your learning and teaching over the course duration. You gain critical and reflective understanding of English language classroom practice and research skills. The course draws on and incorporates international settings allowing you to experience and evaluate a range of teaching and assessment methods and prepare you for teaching in the international context. You develop your skills in critically evaluating areas of theory and practice in English language teaching applying knowledge to lesson planning and developing learning materials for a range of learners developing and evaluating research instruments and data analysis reflecting critically on your development as a teacher and classroom researcher completing a research project in a topic of your choice While studying, you produce a portfolio of assignments, lesson plans, materials and a development plan which will be a useful resource for future employment and professional development.
