Course overview

This course focuses on performance for stage and screen on a practical and theoretical level. You learn to see the similarities and differences of stage and screen from a performer's perspective. During the course you examine and critically analyse dramatic and cinematic works develop practical performance skills on stage, screen and radio analyse performance spaces and attend productions to study the performances and audiences perform in non-theatrical venues as well as established performance spaces As part of the course, you can go on a placement in the creative and cultural industries of South Yorkshire. This gives you professional work experience which can help with your career after graduating. You explore theatre, film, television and radio from intellectual perspectives, including * aesthetic * economic * cultural * historical * social. You take core modules across various media from the position of the critic, spectator and performer. We deliver these modules through lectures, seminars, screenings and workshops. They are complemented by visits to regional performance spaces and productions. You choose optional modules allowing you to tailor the course towards your interests and career ambitions. This course is also available part-time.
