Course overview

We have one of the largest groupings of hospitality and tourism staff in Europe. Key themes include * tourism and hospitality industry * contemporary tourism and hospitality markets and consumer trends * tourism and hospitality business environments * leisure, tourism and hospitality We help you develop investigation and study skills so you can make the most of your studies. You become actively involved in seminars, workshops and practical projects. Fieldwork, site visits and speakers from industry develop your knowledge and understanding of the industry and how it works. You can choose to spend year two on work placement, which might be in the UK or overseas. We highly recommend this and can help you find a good quality placement. You work alongside industry professionals in a real working environment. For your placement you can focus on specialist tourism and hospitality areas, including licensed house management, gastronomy and small business enterprise. A placement year can bring * better academic performance * greater understanding of business environments * improved job opportunities * a higher salary after you graduate. After finishing the course, many of our HND students return to working for their placement employer, or work for employers in the same sector.
