About Radiotherapy and Oncology, BSc (Hons) - at Sheffield Hallam University

Use cutting-edge equipment to learn how to deliver professional radiotherapy, and provide specialist care and support to patients.

This challenging and supportive course has been developed in partnership with employers and professional bodies. When you graduate, you’ll be eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

While specialising in radiotherapy, you’ll have opportunities to learn with, from and about students from other health and social care courses. This will enable you to develop an in depth understanding of person-centred care and patient journeys.

Work placements

On this course, you’ll spend time on clinical placements that allow you to apply your studies to the real world.

The course prepares you for collaboration with different professionals. You’ll work and study alongside students, practitioners and patients from across the field of health and social care, so you can integrate seamlessly into the workplace.

You’ll be placed in one of our nine partnership radiotherapy centres for the majority of your training. Here you’ll work under supervision to deliver radiation treatment to patients in our care, observe practice as it happens and learn from members of the professional team.

There are also opportunities to get experience in other hospital areas, so you can better understand the patient journey. You’ll get a chance to organise a self-funded elective placement to meet your personal and professional development needs.
