Course overview
This course is for people interested in current developments in social and political science. You develop your knowledge of politics and we introduce you to the latest thinking in analysing and explaining political trends and issues.
The course focuses on politics, political structures and recent developments on a UK, European and global scale. You gain a critical understanding of political institutions and ideologies which affect decision making and developments on an international scale.
Core areas you study include * international issues * political systems * political choices * global society.
This course has a strong contemporary emphasis and you focus on ethical and moral issues such as world poverty and politics. You also look at emerging world issues such as * environmental damage * the impact of technology * global security and violence * health * human rights.
You develop intellectual and analytical skills and information and communication technology skills that are a great benefit to your career.
A core feature of this course is that you can take various forms of supervised work experience. The work experience modules allow you to
use an existing paid or unpaid work commitment if you wish
work in local voluntary or community sector organisations
research a potential future career
