Course overview
This course was rated first in the UK in its subject area in the National Student Survey 2009.
Technological developments in information and communication technology (ICT) dominate today’s business environment.
This course produces technically literate managers with the skills and knowledge to identify, design, build and manage the technological solutions that are the foundations of every organisation.
It prepares you for a career in business and management by giving you
the knowledge and skills increasingly expected of an honours graduate in general business and management
knowledge and understanding of technology and its commercial implications
an insight into innovation and design through our enterprise modules
an extended period of training in an organisation
knowledge of the first stages of setting up a small business
We designed the course to give you the relevant skills, and the ability to use them effectively in a commercial environment. You learn to be a reflective practitioner with an understanding of lifelong learning. It also provides a sound academic base for further study.
The course combines business and communication knowledge with current and emerging ICT. You gain the skills to manage and understand new technology and its application to provide business solutions and opportunities.
This broad-based curriculum and optional year’s placement in industry opens many doors for our graduates. It is a recognised route into professions such as * marketing * human resources * public relations * accountancy.
We recommend you take a paid work placement in year three. Typical salaries range from £12,000 to £22,000. This year helps your personal development and gives you the chance to apply your studies in the work environment.
You also gain new skills, which make you more attractive to employers. This year can sometimes lead to the offer of a permanent job after graduation.
Many graduates want to run their own business, so there is a series of modules to teach essential business skills for budding entrepreneurs. These modules are just as valuable for those wanting to work for companies.
