Course overview

Biotechnology is widely regarded as the technology of the 21st century, as a result of the profound advancements in molecular biology and associated technologies in the later half of the 20th century, and the power and promises of its application in health, food and the environment. As the application of biotechnologies to agricultural, biological, biomedical, pharmaceutical, and other bio-industrial and health-related industry continues to advance and more beneficial products are produced, the demand of this area of expertise and manpower is increasing. The future research, development and employment prospects and opportunities for the graduates in biotechnology are good.

Our graduates have board spectrum of career prospects in both public and private sectors. More than 50% of the MBT graduates pursue further studies local and abroad, including doctoral studies in renowned Institutions overseas. Graduates are also highly competitive for biotechnology-related jobs.

This experience culminates in the Final Year Project (capstone course), where students conduct an independent research project under faculty supervision. Together, these research‑rich experiences prepare graduates not only for postgraduate study and research careers, but also for diverse career pathways beyond the laboratory, through the development of highly transferable analytical, communication, and project‑management skills.
