Course overview
This new course recognises the importance of tourism and hospitality as the world's largest industries. The programme of studies integrates teaching, research and strong industry expertise from within the area of tourism and hospitality management as well as generic business management at the Aberdeen Business School.
The course will enable aspiring managers to gain industry specific expertise together with a highly relevant academic qualification. The focus is to actively encourage students to apply management principles and concepts in the context of contemporary national and international tourism and hospitality management.
There will be emphasis on preparing students for senior management roles and as such they will have to demonstrate self direction and originality in solving problems as well as being able to act autonomously in planning and implementing tasks at a professional level. The course will also develop their ability to think critically and appraise and apply academic models relevant to the international tourism and hospitality industry.
The degree has been developed with guidance from both the TMI (Tourism Management Institute) and the Institute of Hospitality as well as with local industry.
