About Criminal Justice, LLM - at Centre for Commercial Law Studies, Queen Mary University of London
The Criminal Justice LLM allows you to gain in-depth comparative knowledge of global criminal justice and domestic systems around the world, including their regional and transnational interactions. Understand different systems of criminal justice (for example civil vs common law, or international criminal law) and investigate the challenges that police, prosecutors, judges, victims and policymakers face in a global environment.
- Study within the Criminal Justice Centre (CJC), which provides a forum for research and learning in all aspects of criminal justice
- The LLM can lead to further postgraduate research and study in criminal law. We also offer an MRes programme in Criminal Law
- The Criminal Justice Centre provides advice and training to the legal profession, governments and judiciaries, and you can attend many seminars, lectures, workshops and conferences
- Your fellow students will come from the UK and more than 80 other countries, each able to draw on prior academic and professional experience from different jurisdictions
You will consider multiple aspects of criminal law and justice, including issues of terrorism and human rights, migration, international crime, cybercrime, corporate violence and economic crime, and mental health law. Your studies will encompass the laws in different jurisdictions and how they are applied internationally. Please note that not all modules will be available in any one year.
You will be offered a varied selection of taught modules from which you can choose, enabling you to gear your qualification to set you on your desired career trajectory. You do not have to choose your modules until you have had the opportunity to learn about them in greater detail during your comprehensive induction period.
You will also have voluntary access to an excellent series of lectures in Critical Thinking and Writing in Law to help you improve your writing and research in law skills.
We are also offer the Kalisher Trust Scholarship, which provides for a £4,000 stipend. Details for entry to be confirmed.
