Entry requirements
Applicants must have completed a minimum of 90 college-level credits at an institution accredited by the Council of Higher Education of Puerto Rico or a U.S. accrediting organization. While a BA or BS degree is not required, candidates who have completed one will be given preference.
Language Proficiency
Applicants must be bilingual in English and Spanish with proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding both languages.
GPA and Test Scores
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.7 (on a four-point scale)
- Minimum science GPA (SGPA): 2.7 (on a four-point scale)
- DAT (Dental Admission Test): Minimum score of 15 (average of academic and perceptual ability sections). Scores must be no more than three years old.
Letters of Recommendation
Submit three letters of recommendation. It is recommended that at least one letter is from a volunteering experience in a community activity.
Clinical Experience
Complete at least 24 hours of shadowing at a dental office to gain practical exposure to the profession.
Official Transcripts
Applicants must arrange for official transcripts to be sent directly to PHSU from all institutions attended. Transcripts submitted by the applicant will not be considered official.
