About Marketing, MSc - at Loughborough Business School, Loughborough University

Are you looking to forge a career in marketing? Hone the relevant practical and analytical skills and put them into action on a leading brand project – on this full-time Marketing MSc taught by Loughborough’s industry experts.

Marketing is the hub of all modern business – no company can survive long without it. In a world of constantly changing consumer habits and technological advances, this master’s will set you up for exciting and creative career opportunities in marketing roles across digital, retail, advertising, manufacturing and finance.

A robust academic foundation with real-world relevance

On this full-time, one-year programme, you will discover the secrets behind effective strategic marketing management in a global marketplace, learn to conduct and analyse market research, and explore the marketing mix in an international context.

Studying with leading researchers, academics and practitioners, many whom are world-renowned in their fields, you will benefit from the latest marketing insights while gaining a solid academic foundation in the subject.

Opportunities to enhance and refine your skills

In semester two, there is the chance to develop and apply your skills on a group project, on a leading brand, working in the context of real-world challenges. The most recent brand project was with Britvic, suppliers of Pepsi Max, Robinsons and Rockstar to the UK market. Each group was allocated a brand and liaised with the Britvic marketing team to produce a report to increase sales after Covid-19.

Alongside your master’s, you can study towards The Chartered Institute of Marketing’s (CIM) Level 6 Diploma in Professional Marketing. An optional separate qualification, this involves an additional fee. If you take this option, you will study with our training partner TMLA (a CIM accredited study centre). As our programme is part of the CIM accredited degree, you will be exempt from taking the exam and will only need to produce two assignments to achieve the diploma.

Gain practical experience through the Loughborough Consultancy Project

A key element of the MSc Marketing is the opportunity to take part in a consultancy project. This allows you to apply theoretical and research-led knowledge from the programme to real-world challenges, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Beyond this, the consultancy experience will boost your employability by demonstrating practical expertise to potential employers. Additionally, the project is structured to maximise networking opportunities and build the confidence you need to graduate ready to make purposeful progress in achieving your career goals.

By the end of the programme, you will be well equipped to start building a successful marketing career, whichever aspect of the field you choose to specialise in.
