Course overview

Our MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management will develop your understanding of operations, logistics and supply chains, including the latest academic developments. The programme combines academic rigour with practical relevance, preparing you to address key challenges in logistics and supply chain management.

In addition to subject-specific expertise, you will develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and professional skills essential for real-world impact. The programme benefits from close industry links and is accredited by both the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) and the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). This provides a pathway to professional recognition and equips you for a wide range of careers across manufacturing, retail, logistics, and consultancy sectors.

Comprehensive curriculum

You will explore all major aspects of logistics and supply chain management, including operations planning, logistics management, procurement, transportation, and sustainability. The programme’s curriculum is grounded in both the theoretical foundations and the latest developments in the field, offering a blend of academic insight and practical relevance.

Applied learning

A key strength of this programme is its applied, problem-based approach. We emphasise applying knowledge in professional contexts. You will learn through case studies, field trips, simulation tools and an independent research project tied to a real business problem.

Develop essential skills for success

You will develop the ability to identify, analyse, and solve complex logistics and supply chain issues using appropriate quantitative and qualitative methods. Core modules focus on:

  • supply chain management
  • logistics management
  • global sourcing.

You will equip yourself with critical decision-making and problem-solving skills. You will also enhance your ability to propose strategic, tactical, and operational improvements that are grounded in evidence and aligned with business objectives.

You will gain practical experience in:

  • project management
  • team collaboration
  • negotiation
  • effective communication.

These skills are essential for leadership roles in logistics and supply chain functions. They are further strengthened through group work, presentations, and engagement with external clients.

Your capstone project

The programme offers a major independent research project, where you will work individually or in partnership with organisations to investigate a real business problem. This experience allows you to apply your learning in a meaningful way, drawing on both academic research and practical insight to deliver actionable recommendations.

Industry connections

The CIPS and CILT accreditation reflects the programme’s alignment with professional standards. Our strong connections with industry ensure that the curriculum remains relevant, and guest speakers and practitioner-led sessions help connect theory and practice.

Entry requirements

2:2 Hons degree (UK or equivalent), ideally in a related field, but including degrees in Business and Management Studies, Economics and Social Sciences, as well as Engineering.

Marks should be consistently at 2:2 level throughout your undergraduate studies.

Familiarity at undergraduate level with topics such as probability, statistics, data analysis, research methods and business modelling would be advantageous.

Additional requirements

For recent graduates, relevant experience can be an advantage but is not required.

Applicants whose full-time education ended more than five years ago will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be invited for an interview as part of the consideration process.
