Course overview

Without it, modern medicine would be almost unimaginable – imaging techniques like X-rays or CAT scans provide valuable insights into the human body. Thanks to these diagnostic techniques, anomalies and pathological changes can be found, detected, and treated. In our Bachelor's degree in Radiology, you will become a highly qualified specialist in this exciting field of medicine. You will learn how to apply imaging procedures and therapies professionally, and act as a competent contact person for your patients.

Our degree in Radiology at Salzburg University of Applied Sciences innovatively combines the basics of medicine with technical and socio-communicative aspects. You will learn how to implement radiological and nuclear medicine techniques and procedures correctly, and deal with topics like radiation therapy and radiation oncology. In addition to professional knowledge, you will also gain social skills like team skills, role distancing, and conflict resolution during your training.

Your technical and medical knowledge not only forms the basis of helping doctors diagnose. It also enables you to holistically accompany patients, often over a long period of time, through radiation and individual treatments. It is your knowledge that also makes you a specialist in radiation protection and quality assurance.

Among others, during the course of your studies you will deal with the following topics:

  • The application of imaging methods in medicine
  • Conducting healing treatments with ionising radiation
  • Examination and therapies based on a doctor's instructions
  • Patient care during examination and therapy
  • Using state-of-the-art medical technology with highly specialised software
  • Technical quality assurance
  • Patient data and images administration
