Course overview
This joint honours degree combines the complementary but distinctive disciplines of politics and history to enable you to approach the key themes of the programme from both political and historical perspectives. If you are curious about how decisions are made and communicated, why we have certain structures and organisations and how they came to be formed, then this is the degree for you. You will gain a real-life understanding of the world of politics, looking at current practice in the UK, while also focusing on developments and changes around the world. Historical context is provided by exploring and understanding key themes and events in modern history relevant to political and social development, from African-American civil rights to the origins of the Israel/Palestine conflict. You will graduate with a set of key transferable skills including the ability to conduct research, craft a message to communicate a particular point of view and analyse and understand complex information.
