About Chemistry, BSc - at City University of Hong Kong (CityU)

We aim to provide students with a firm foundation in chemistry that will equip them with the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes required to achieve personal development and find suitable employment in the industrial, commercial, government and educational sectors. When you begin the major, you will study fundamental courses in four main areas: Analytical, Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. You will also study Statistics, Mathematics and English language courses. In your senior year, you will undertake intermediate- and advanced-level chemistry courses in the same four areas. You can broaden your knowledge in other advanced chemistry disciplines such as Forensic, Food, Medicinal, Industrial, Green and Supramolecular Chemistry. Various environmental sciences and biology elective courses will also be offered and you can take elective and gateway education courses provided by other departments.
