Course overview
This course is based around Scottish criminal law and Scottish criminal procedures, criminology, contemporary policing and the criminal justice system in Scotland. In addition to these core subjects, you'll study commercial law, private law and property law, sheriff civil and a communications unit.
During the year, you'll look at the role of the citizen within society, the rights and obligations of the private citizen across commercial, property and private matters, the principle of equality, fairness and the role of government and other agencies in maintaining and regulating the rights of the individual.
The course is primarily intended for those seeking to progress to university after one year of study or for those intending to take up employment at the end of the course. Those who would prefer to progress to the 2nd year of HN study should be applying instead for the HND Legal Services course.
