Course overview

The new Development Economics Summer School is taught by experts in the field and specializes in the application of practical methods for the understanding of economic development, as well as providing tools for effective work in the field.

The Summer School in Development Economics will cover some of the most recent and exciting work in the field of economic development. Both theoretical and empirical aspects will be covered, with a precise focus on policy that improves economic well-being in poor and developing countries. The course should be of interest to graduate students or young academics who want to expand their knowledge and to acquire solid and practical tools for field work and large-scale interventions. During the course, faculty are available to discuss research ideas and projects with program participants.

Instructors: Pamela Jakiela (Center for Global Development and University of Maryland) and Owen Ozier (World Bank)

Note: applicants can combine this course with courses in other programs happening during Week 1 (June 29 - July 3) and Week 2 (July 6-10).
