Course overview

The B.A. in Political Science: Comparative Law program at Anglo-American University is taught by faculty that received training from European, British, and American institutions – bringing many years of dynamic professional experience to the classroom.

This program instructs students through a range of comparative analyses of public law. It specifically teaches students about theoretical and practical approaches to the study of EU law, international law, the historical nature of jurisprudence, domestic and international legal systems and civil law, constitutional law, civil rights, and also features the dynamic and highly popular Moot Court experience.

The Comparative Law concentration combines instruction on both domestic and international legal institutions. It focuses on manifestations of law across different public contexts (political, cultural, economic), and enables students to acquire skills in being able to identify and differentiate political outcomes according to different tiers of dispute. Students will learn to design, implement, and review a variety of theoretical approaches to the protection of civil and political rights in different locations.

Upon completion, our students will acquire an ability to write in a comprehensible manner, using legal terminology correctly; effectively retrieve and analyze information from legal databases; present and defend legal arguments in writing and orally.

Beyond the classroom you can join student clubs like Diplomacy or Model UN, practice your debate skills at a faculty-student debate or discuss current political issues with professors and local experts at an event like ‘Professors in the Pub’.

AAU’s Career Center also connects students with numerous professional internships in the Czech Republic and abroad every year.
